What is San Pedro Bridgesii?

Trichocereus bridgesii (Echinopsis lageniformis), also known as the Bolivian Torch, is a columnar cactus native to Bolivia. The species forms elongated green to blue-green stems with multiple ribs and distinctive spines. Mature plants may produce large white flowers that open at night. Bridgesii naturally contains mescaline. The species is also cultivated as an ornamental cactus due to its characteristic growth habit and appearance.

Care

Place the cutting, with the base facing downwards, in dry, well-draining cactus compost. Do not water immediately; allow the cutting time to develop roots first. Keep the compost mostly dry during this initial period to minimise the risk of rot.

Place the cutting in a light, warm spot and allow it to gradually acclimatise to strong direct sunlight. Once the cutting is well-rooted, you can carefully start watering it. Afterwards, always allow the soil to dry out thoroughly before watering again.
