The San Pedro Cristata Lime (Trichocereus Pachanoi) is unique for its growth, appearance and psychedelic powers. This dazzling cactus grows in the wild and is very rare. The San Pedro Cristata Lime (Echinopsis pachanoi cristata) is a special variety of the well-known San Pedro cactus. Watering this plant correctly is crucial for healthy growth and to prevent root rot. Here are some guidelines:

1. Frequency of watering

• Spring & Summer:
  • Water about once every 2-3 weeks, depending on temperature and humidity.
  • Let the soil dry out completely between waterings.
• Autumn & Winter:
  • Reduce watering drastically, about once a month or less.
  • In the colder months, the cactus has a dormant period, during which it needs almost no water.

2. How to water?

• Use rainwater or filtered water (tap water sometimes contains too much lime and minerals).
• Pour the water directly onto the soil, avoiding contact with the trunk and the growth chamber (cristate form), to prevent rot.
• Make sure the water can drain well from the pot (no stagnant water in the saucer).

3. Best method

• "Soak & Dry" method:
  • Water until it runs out of the drainage holes.
  • Then let the soil dry completely before watering again.

4. Additional tips

• Use a well-drained cactus soil (mixture of sand, perlite and potting soil).
• When in doubt, water too little rather than too much - over-watering is cacti's worst enemy.
• In extremely hot summers, a light spray in the early morning can help prevent dehydration.
