San Pedro Cutting Peruvianus (Trichocereus) 25 - 35 CM

The San Pedro Cutting Peruvianus (Trichocereus) 25–35 cm is a cutting from a distinctive South American columnar cactus. This cactus has an upright growth habit with clearly defined ribs and a green to blue-green colour. The cutting can be used to grow your own cactus and is supplied without a pot.

What is San Pedro Peruvianus?

Trichocereus peruvianus, also known as the Peruvian Torch, is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to Peru. The cactus develops sturdy, ribbed stems with spines and, under suitable conditions, can grow into a large specimen. Like several related Trichocereus species, this cactus may naturally contain the alkaloid mescaline.

Care

Allow the cut end of the cutting to dry out completely and harden before planting it in the soil. If the cut end is already completely dry and hard on delivery, the cutting can be planted in well-draining cactus compost. Plant the cutting a few centimetres deep and ensure it is firmly positioned and standing upright.

Keep the soil dry during the initial stage whilst the cutting develops roots. Place it in a light and warm spot and allow it to gradually acclimatise to strong direct sunlight. Once roots have formed, you can carefully begin watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely each time before watering again.
