Trichocereus pachanoi - cristata (San Pedro) Big, is a distinctive growth form of the San Pedro cactus. In this cristata form, the top does not grow straight up, but instead forms a broad, undulating crest due to multiple growth points. This gives each plant a distinctive shape. The cactus is supplied in a pot and is 35 to 50 cm tall.
Trichocereus pachanoi, also known as Echinopsis pachanoi, is a columnar cactus native to the Andes region of South America. The cristata form exhibits an unusual crest-like growth pattern, which clearly distinguishes the plant from the standard, upright-growing San Pedro. The cactus naturally contains mescaline.
Place the cactus in a bright spot and allow it to gradually acclimatise to strong direct sunlight. Use well-draining cactus compost and ensure that excess water can drain away easily.
During the growing season, only water again once the soil has dried out completely. In autumn and winter, the cactus requires considerably less water. Soil that is too wet can cause root rot.
