Catmint, better known as catnip, owes this name to its stimulating and aphrodisiac effect on cats. In humans, this herb works somewhat differently. Catmint has a light psychedelic effect and has a very relaxing and euphoric effect. Many users compare the feeling of a Catmint tea with that of a cannabis high. Catmint is native to South and Central Asia. In and around the Middle Ages, this herb was called Catnip and was widely used as a spice in the kitchen or as an herbal medicine. The most active components of catnip is Nepetalactone, of which the component Nepeta is also found in Valerian. Catnip or Catmint is non-toxic and can also be combined with Damiana, Valerian and Galangal without any problems.

Wild Catnip (Nepeta cataria).

Catmint has a calming, relaxing effect (marijuana-like high) at a low dose, and at a high dose this herb can be hypnotic or a mild hallucinogen.

Boil one liter of water and add 25 grams of Catmint herb. Let the herb cook for a few minutes. Then turn off the heat and let the Catmint steep for another 15 minutes. Strain the tea and add some honey for flavor.
