Cacti Growkits

With this cactus growing kit, you can grow your own cactus from seed. When ordering, choose one of the four available growing kits: San Pedro (Trichocereus pachanoi), Peyote (Lophophora williamsii), Bridgesii (Trichocereus bridgesii) or Fricii (Lophophora fricii). Various alkaloids occur naturally in these cactus species, including mescaline in certain species. Each variety is supplied as a complete growing kit with the corresponding cactus seeds, growing tray and materials for sowing and nurturing.

Care

Make around 10 small drainage holes in the base of the growing tray. Add a layer of gravel and then fill the tray with a mixture of potting compost, coarse sand and perlite. Scatter the seeds over the surface and press them down gently. Do not cover the seeds completely with soil.

Moisten the substrate evenly with a plant sprayer and place the lid on the propagator. Place the propagator in a warm, bright spot out of direct sunlight. Keep the substrate slightly moist whilst the seeds are germinating and avoid it remaining waterlogged for long periods.

As the seedlings develop, you can gradually acclimatise them to lower humidity by increasing ventilation in the propagator. Eventually, remove the lid completely.

Allow the young cacti to gradually acclimatise to more light. As they continue to grow, you can reduce watering and allow the growing medium to dry out further between waterings.
