What is a Mushroom spawn?

Mushroom spawn, also known as grain spawn, is grain that is fully grown through with mycelium. This forms the basis for successful mushroom cultivation. In ready-made grow kits, this spawn is often already mixed with coconut soil and vermiculite, packed in a fixed quantity. Such a grow kit yields a limited harvest and cannot be reused afterwards. Working with loose mushroom spawn yourself gives you much more control and flexibility. You easily determine the size of your cultivation and can also multiply the mycelium.

This is because the strong mycelium grows quickly and vigorously: you can make several new portions from one jar of mushroom spawn. So you scale up your culture from 1 to 10, to 100 pots - all within a few weeks. So you are no longer stuck with a standard 250, 1200 or 2100 ml grow kit, but grow exactly the amount of mushrooms you want. And the best part? This is achievable for everyone, just with everyday items from home.
