Use

Rapé (pronounced ha-peh) is a traditional shamanic tobacco snuff from the Amazon. It contains finely ground tobacco and other herbs and is blown in through the nose with a special pipe. If you want to use Rapé on yourself, you need a self-applicator pipe called a Kuripe. If you want to blow the Rapé into another person's nostrils, you will need a Tepi. Below is a step-by-step guide the supplies and preparation:

• Rapé powder (from a reliable source)
• Kuripe (self-applicator pipe or Tepi pipe)
• A quiet and comfortable place
• Handkerchief or tissue (for excess mucus)
• Intention or prayer (optional, but recommended for spirit

Preparation

1. 1. Make sure both of you are calm and focused.
      The receiver can be in a cross-legged or upright position.
      Ask the receiver to breathe through the mouth and open up to the experience.
      Hold a respectful intention. In shamanic traditions, Rapé is used for purification, healing and focus.
   2. Dosage
      Scoop a small amount of Rapé (the size of half a pea grain per nostril) into the Tepi pipe.
      Blow into your hand first to check that there are no lumps and that the pipe passes well.
   3. Administration
      Place the narrow end of the Tepi pipe in the recipient's nostril.
      The receiver holds the head slightly forward and relaxes.
      Take a deep breath, and blow the Rapé forcefully but in a controlled manner into one nostril at a time.
      Wait a few seconds and repeat at the other nostril.
   4. Aftercare
      The recipient can keep eyes closed and breathe deeply to let the effect sink in.
      There may be a strong reaction, such as tears, sneezing or mucus secretion - this is normal and a sign of purification.
      Give the recipient time to ground and water or tissue if needed.
