INDIAN GOA: THE PLACE TO BE FOR SPIRITUALITY?

INDIAN GOA: THE PLACE TO BE FOR SPIRITUALITY?

The Flower Power Culture was once hugely present in Indian Goa. In the '60s and '70s, Goa was a true hippie paradise and the absolute party destination of India. Hordes of young people visited the Indian state of Goa in search of happiness, spirituality and freedom. But what about the party paradise? And is Indian Goa still the place to be for spirituality?

The Indian hippie paradise Goa of yesteryear

India is a world apart with the most special spiritual locations. Goa is a coastal province in western India and was formerly known as a hippie paradise. There has always been a relaxed, relaxed and carefree way of life here. And actually still do. Young people often came here to seek happiness, spirituality and freedom. For example, the typical statement ‘Susegad’, meaning ‘quiet’, also comes from here. The Indian state of Goa typifies the ideal image of the 24/7 laidback mode.

In its heyday, the beaches of Goa were overflowing with hippies and party people. Everyone came here en masse to party, the daily experience of spirituality to experience and to make contact with the population, fellow travelers and with yourself in a simple, loving way. But when the Indian government introduced stricter rules on drug use, the young people were hindered in their journey to spirituality and the celebrations were curbed.

The paradise of today

Nowadays, Goa is very popular among travelers. The hippie culture is still there, but it does take some detective work. Today paradise Goa is better known as  the place where you can escape the Indian hectic and recharge with yoga, meditation, fun psychedelic parties and beautiful beaches. You can still party like the best, but there are also wonderful quiet places where you can come closer to yourself.

Most tourists of Goa come to the beautiful beaches of Goa. The coastline is more than 100 kilometers and is characterized by golden sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Lazing around on a towel or at a cozy beach bar is the best here. You can even take boat trips and spot dolphins.

Palolem is one of the most popular destinations in Goa. It is a small coastal town where you can do plenty of things both along the beach and in the village. The village of Patnem is near Palolem and is a bit quieter, but you will find the same beautiful sea, beaches and facilities here. Agonda is a great destination if you are looking for the ultimate tranquility.

And if you're looking to party in Goa, the beaches of Anjuna and Vagator are the place to be. Anjuna is theé party destination of Goa with the most popular nightclub in the whole area: Paradiso. Vagator is a bit quieter, but very popular among the rave culture.

Indian Goa: the place to be for spirituality?

Although the number of travelers in Goa is increasing every year, you can still enjoy the laid-back, relaxed and carefree way of life here. It is a magically beautiful place where you can still search for spirituality, freedom and happiness.

In the seaside resorts of Anjuna and Palolem you will still find some hippies of the old stamp. They are still the most popular destinations in Goa for fun parties or seeking spirituality. But now the town of Arambol has taken over the title of hippie paradise.

In this coastal town you can go for yoga, meditation or other spiritual workshops. Music is played on the beach almost every night, the atmosphere is good and the people are nice. In short: a very nice destination to come to yourself!
